நிகழ்வினைப் பற்றி யிறப்பெதிர்வு நிற்ப
நிகழ்கா லவையு நிகழ்வே — நிகழ்வொன்றே
யின்றுண்மை தேரா திறப்பெதிர்வு தேரவுன
லொன்றின்றி யெண்ண வுனல்.
Minulost a budoucnost pochází z přítomnosti. Minulost byla jednou přítomností a budoucnost se jí stane. Přítomnost je pouze jedna. Nevědět pravdu o přítomnosti a snažit se znát minulost nebo budoucnost je jako pokoušet se počítat bez jedničky.
The past and future exist depending upon the present, which one daily experiences; they too, while occurring, were and will be the present. Therefore, [among the three times] the present alone exists. Trying to know the past and future without knowing the truth of the present [i.e. its non-existence] is like trying to count without [knowing the value of the unit] one.

Minulost a budoucnost existují závisle na přítomnosti, kterou denně zažíváme; ony také, když nastaly či až nastanou, byly a budou přítomností. Proto (z těchto třech časů) existuje pouze přítomnost. Pokoušet se poznat minulost a budoucnost bez znalosti pravdy o přítomnosti (tj. o její neexistenci) je jako snažit se počítat bez (znalosti hodnoty) jedné.

Only with reference to the present can the past and the future exist. They too, while current, are the present. To try to determine the nature of the past and the future while ignoring the present is like trying to count without the unit.

Past and future stand holding the present. While occurring, they too are actually the present. The present is the only one. Not knowing the reality of now, trying to know the past or future is trying to count without one.
